Hosting a Halloween Dinner Party

Halloween is not just for kids, it can be the perfect excuse to to get together with friends and host a spectacular dinner party. Take inspiration from all things dark and decadent and put together a sophisticated evening of Halloween fun. We've put together a few of our favourite ideas to help you throw a beautifully elegant Halloween get together to enjoy with your nearest and dearest.

The Setting

For a pulled-together look, choose a colour scheme and stick to it. This includes centerpieces for your table and even the crockery and glasses that you use. For halloween, we think a deep, dark colour palette works best - black, deep purple, rich red. Accent these dark colours with pops of something brighter like gold, orange or white for a beautiful table.

We love the matte black bottles used as candle holders for tapered copper and gold candles seen here. You can achieve the effect yourself by painting some old bottles of various shapes and sizes with matte black chalk paint.

Add Some Flowers and Foliage

No dinner party is complete without some beautiful flowers or foliage as part of the centre piece. Choose quirky antique vases to add to the spooky but elegant aesthetic and choose flowers that fit with your colour theme. One idea that we love is using old apothecary jars as flower pots.

The Food

For a dinner party, we love creating dishes that everyone can dig into and help themselves. A decadent cheese board is perfect as a starter and this one from Camille Styles is one of the best we've seen. Mixing dark grapes and figs with delicious homemade chutney, plenty of cured meat and indulgent cheeses! Serve on a antique look tray and let your guests help themselves.
