Biography


Fleur Turner is the founder and Creative Director of Fleur of England. Born and raised in the quintessential English town of Guilford, Surrey, Fleur graduated in 1998 with a 1st Class Honours degree in Fashion Marketing. After gaining a couple of years valuable experience in technical lingerie Fleur was headhunted to work as a fashion journalist but she followed her dream and at the age of 25, and with a small bank loan, founded the exclusive lingerie label ‘Fleur T’ in 2000. Her desire to create beautiful, feminine and sensual garments that inspire romance, elegance and sophistication has become a part of her being, and her affinity with silk and lace inspires the exquisite world that is now known as Fleur of England.

Fleur T was an instant success with Fleur being commissioned to design limited edition collections for Liberty of London. Since then her portfolio of exclusive stockists has continually grown and now includes 65 elite boutiques worldwide including department stores such as Barneys (NY) (for 20 consecutive seasons) and Harvey Nichols.

Having romantically followed her husband-to-be to Bristol, Fleur fell into a separate love affair with the city and has adored what has been described as “the city of extended youth” ever since. The Fleur of England head office is based in the heart of bohemian Bristol in an old Victorian townhouse. The small, but perfectly formed, team do all of the design, pattern and fit work from the studio and it is from here that the company has gained international fame for its leading edge designs, attention to detail and supreme fit.

As the privately owned business has grown over the years so has Fleur’s family. Since her home life is so very important to her, she successfully juggles her two worlds of ‘yummy mummy’ (to two young boys George, 3 and Ernest, 1) and ‘creative businesswoman’. Fleur would describe her company as her first baby, a daughter, and it’s through this that her creativity and naturally feminine style is fulfilled.

Based on 5 distinct moods (fiercely feminine, powerful, romantic, playful and luxurious) Fleur’s signature style is ‘romance with a splash of sauce’. Known for leading the way in British Lingerie design Fleur received a royal seal of approval with the ‘Fashion Export Newcomer’ award from HRH Princess Anne in 2003. Since then Fleur has been lucratively recognised by both international trade forums and fashion magazines as a leader within the luxury lingerie market for her exquisite designs and imagery.

As well as recognition from the media Fleur’s designs have also been snapped up by celebrities such as Liv Tyler, Sarah-Jessica Parker, Emma Watson and Katy Perry to name a few.

It is important to Fleur to creatively push the designs forward each season and also to make sure that every experience had with Fleur of England is exquisite. From fabrics, design and luxury packaging to customer service and website sales, Fleur expects nothing but the best.

The Autumn/Winter 2011 collection excitingly marks Fleur of England’s 10th anniversary. With business booming and the support of her loyal customers Fleur is looking forward to the next 10 years of exquisite lingerie design.
